Season 5, Episode 12 “Taking This One to The Grave”
Detective Holbrook makes a visit to Radley, where Aria is volunteering and involved in helping create a distraction for Mona and Spencer to sneak into the record room at Radley.
To distract the nurse Aria knocks over a jar of red paint, which spills onto the floor. As she is cleaning it up, it definitely looks like blood splattered all over the floor. This scene was definitely a bit foreshadowing considering the bloody crime scene left behind after Mona’s murder. While cleaning up the splattered red paint, Aria tells the nurse “This was totally all my fault” and later we know -A sent a text to the liars that said “It’s all your fault.”
Could this have been a clue that Aria was somehow been involved in Mona’s murder? I know she couldn’t have killed Mona, but maybe she knew it was coming.Detective Holbrook enters the Art Room to see Aria cleaning up what looks like a bloody crime scene, and so eerily he says, “You’ve made quite the mess of things.”
Detective Holbrook then goes on to question Aria:
Detective Holbrook: I didn’t know you worked here Aria?
Aria: It’s not a job. I volunteer.
Detective Holbrook: Ah, that’s admirable.
Aria: Ok, I should probably get back to the patients they might need more supplies.
Detective Holbrook: Of course, I’m just curious when did it all start?
Aria: What?
Detective Holbrook: The lies, the cover-ups, the murders…
your volunteer program?
First, it’s important to mention that Aria was HALLUCINATING when Detective Holbrook said “The lies. The cover-ups. The Murders.”
When he asked her “When did this all start? She was basically imagining what he was saying…Aria must a VERY guilty conscious to be imaging such things to the point of hallucinating. I think it is important to note that Aria is the only person we know of to have hallucinations on several occasions. Yeah, Spencer had one in “Shadow Play” that was drug induced. But, Aria has had them so many times when she has been completely sober.
In reality, Detective Holbrook was actually asking her when she started volunteering at Radley?
He also asks if Aria has an interest in the Mental Health profession?
I couldn’t help but laugh and think about Aria’s own potential “Mental Health” issues. We all know the theories and compelling evidence that supports the idea that Aria does have some kind of Mental illness. After all it does run in her family.
So, here Aria is again hallucinating. I mean, at least this time it wasn’t a dead body coming to life at their own funeral but still it’s more proof that she does suffer from hallucinations, and she is also no stranger to nightmares, and panic attacks. All of which seem to suggest Aria is a little “Mental.”
Aria probably feels right at home at Radley. I know that Aria never answered Detective Holbrook’s questions and whether or not she started the volunteer program before or after the police identified Bethany Young’s body. As far as we know, it was AFTER…
But, I still can’t help but remember Eddie Lamb recalling Aria volunteering once BEFORE too.
I am still thinking this wasn’t Aria first REAL trip to the Sanitarium.
god this is brilliant
Not long ago I read this theory that Mona was getting ready to fake her own death. While it seems like she’s really dead right now, here’s why I think that’s not the case:
1. That wasn’t a panic attack
Remember 2 episodes ago where Mona fainted? She also had a band-aid on her arm (exactly…
